I am continually returning to Vinyl and listening to music that seems a bit strange for an Aussie. I grew up listening to The Sweet (Sweet F.A. onwards) through Pink Floyd, Yes, Alan Parsons project, Tomita, Jethro tull, ELO and other delights from the 70's until I heard 'Permanent waves' from the Canadian trio RUSH in 1981. This album fried my brain and is still a favorite, not just for the songs and musicianship but the recording and production. The start of Natural Science has a reverb effect created by bouncing the recording off a nearby mountian and capturing the echo! If you want to hear how much this album (and the band) influenced me, you can hear it (with Leikki) at Myspace.com/ANIM8music.
My latest CD fav is 'Lost in a moment' by Shrift.

I just rediscovered an old favorite -- Uli Roth and his first album with Electric Sun, "Earthquake". Great Hendrix-goes-classical-in-the-East playing. Not a huge fan of his work after that record, but up to it and including his stuff with the Scorpions in the '70s, amazing stuff. Worth checking out.

Currently big on Johnny Cash -- his "American IV - The Man Comes Around" is in heavy rotation.

Haha! Haven't read those in a while. Funny stuff.

I just borrowed a stack of Norwegian and Swedish folk(-meets-jazz sometimes) albums from a friend. Tripping out on Mari Boine, Ale Möller, Jonas Knutsson etc. Beautiful.
