Groups » The Guitars » Regarding single string intonation adjustment on FW fixed bridge models

STARTER MESSAGE 26.07.2007, 20:28

There was talk in the other thread about why FW models don't feature a fixed bridge with the possibility of intonation for each string individually.

To set the record straight, the fixed bridges on Flaxwoods (Gotoh 510UB) have this feature. Refer to the pics below for a full view:

I see you've changed the bridge. The one I've got has the Wilkinson wraparound. While it's a fine bridge, it is somewhat limited in intonation for the A and G strings it seems. Could the Gotoh 510UB be fitted directly to replace it or are the measurements (post placement mainly I suppose) different?

BTW, I'd like to mention how much more I like the knobs that are on my Flaxwood than the ones on models I see in stores. I believe mine was some sort of special order (Ferrari red color with straight wooden or fake wood dome knobs) though, but the knobs I've got are definitely easier to grip. See www.saunalahti.fi

The link came out a bit weird (parsing bug?) but points to the right pic anyway.

Hey Laxu!

Unfortunately, the post placement is just that little bit different with the Wilkinson that it can't be directly replaced with the Gotoh. Knob preference noted (my personal taste is closer to yours as well). :)

See you around!
