Frankfurt MusikMesse 2008
STARTER MESSAGE

We're preparing ourselves for this year's MusikMesse currently. Kim and I'll be there, we're having our own booth this year entirely.
If we get the pickup in time for it to be installed, we should be bringing over a prototype FW fretless guitar with a Fernandes Sustainer pickup installed in it which I'll be demoing as well. Hope it works out!
Any questions about the fair, things you'd like to see us showcase, do, bring, drink, anything? I know Lars-Alexander's coming, any of you others going to be around? Would love to meet face to face.

Hey Jussi,
Great! I'd love to try out the fretless one :o)
If we can send in wishes: I'd like one of the Laines to be equipped with an EMG SA set and Dadarrio XL jazz light strings(12-16-24w-32w-42w-52w)... maybe ivory coloured EMGs on a Kivi oiled rock Laine, or black EMGs on a tobacco burst, or something... or at least one guitar equipped with these strings. I don't like all those 9-gauge stringed guitars in stores and at the Messe... but I remember you use the 10-gauge strings... one point into the right direction :o)
Anything you want us to bring, apart from friends, potential customers?

And what about a Flax equipped with Rautia pickups like those beautiful bladed humbucker-sized single-coils:
Candy Bar Soft Top
? That should be an eye-catcher on Flaxwood Rautia with a nice burst, especially if the pickup shows those nice perloid covers! Come on! They look delicious!

uhm... well, I don't mean to get on your nerves, but there are many people freaking out over P90-type pickups here in Germany. Quite a few threads in the forums over the last weeks - So it might be advisable to showcase some Liekkis with different Rautia P90-types (Candy Bar with different pearl covers, Twang Bar etc.) maybe.

Greetings from Frankfurt!
Just finished building the booth today, came back to the hotel after some great Chinese. And weissbier, which is nice.
Here's the lowdown:
- The stock models are all on display, with the exception of the Vasara. On the Äijä, we have different pickups; we've decided to go with high gain Seymour Duncan pickups from now on instead of the EMG's because we came across problems with the combination of active high gain pickups and a semi-hollow body construction, as a Flaxwood gravitates more towards a Les-Paul-meets-335 type of guitar, anyway. The feedback started becoming an issue. More official news on this later.
- Veijo has several guitars on the stand fitted with his handwound pickups (including his Bar-o-Casters, which switch between P90/humbucker/Strat tones with a mini toggle), and a Charlie Christian -esque pickup.
- A fretless prototype fitted with the Fernandes Sustainer system is on display, and plays like a charm.
- A prototype with the blonde neck as seen on the MusikMesse intropage/ad is on the stand.
- I brought my own gold Liekki to the fair, with a sunken-in tune-o-matic bridge for reference. Not for sale, though...
Other than that, it's Kim, me, some Finnish cognac and Yngwie soundchecking at Fender next door. ;)
See you there!

Hey all!
Just about recovered from a great week in Frankfurt...
Kim's journal will be up shortly with some pics courtesy of yours truly and lars_alexander, as well as video clips of the FW fretless/sustainer prototype at play.
I'll put pics up of the new FW protos and Customs that we had on display as soon as I can. Flew in yesterday night, tonight was spent at a dress rehearsal for tomorrow's musical concert so I'll try and get them up during the rest of the week.
'Til then - at ease, privates!
