Hey all --
I visited a one-time home country and city of mine this past summer when I had the good fortune to spend a couple of weeks in Beirut, Lebanon reconnecting with roots and studying Arabic music.
Though I spent the majority of my musical quality time trying to manhandle an oud (11-string Arabic lute), I also had my Flaxwood Liekki in tow, which ended up not only debuting live in Lebanon but also featuring on an upcoming experimental record by oud virtuoso Ziyad Sahhab and Fairouz bassist Jean Madani, mixing oud, flamenco vocals, electric bass, flute and electronica (and now, Flaxwood courtesy of a very humble yours truly).
I haven't yet got the final mixes of the song we recorded, but I'll post it as soon as I get it. Meanwhile, if you're interested, check out my Lebanon blog at
